Determining Big Move Potential

When analyzing prospective trades, we want to select the trades that have the highest potential for gains. Nirvana Systems has done extensive research to determine likely short-term profits. One of the factors we have discovered is the fact that the size of a pullback against the trend often leads to bigger gains. This led us to create the Snap Analyzer.

The Snap Analyzer allows users to explore a securities likelihood to “snap back” on string pullbacks in an otherwise strong trend. This analysis is conducive to most trading approaches, but it is particularly effective for short-term swing trades.

Technical Analysis Topic: The Momentum Indicator

Most traders look to take advantage of a securities momentum. The concept being that they can realize profits from the continuation of momentum. One of the most common indicators used to measure momentum on the aptly titled Momentum Indicator.

The Momentum Indicator is one of many indicators in the Momentum Class (CCI, RSI, Williams %R, etc.) that are all designed to measure momentum. It is considered a leading (predictive) indicator as it uses the difference of the current price and the price n periods ago in order to determine overbought and oversold levels. Longer term periods can be used in the indicator calculation in order to determine momentum strength or weakness.
