Mansfield Relative Strength
Measuring a stock’s performance compared to the general market can help us find the stocks that are outperforming and under performing. While there are many relative strength indicators available, one of the easiest and most reliable is the Mansfield Relative Strength indicator.
Mansfield Relative Strength was used by Stan Weinstein in his famous book “Secrets for Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets”. One of the advantages of Mansfield Relative Strength is that it is simple to interpret. If the indicator is above zero, it is outperforming the general market. If it is below zero, it is under performing the general market. Another advantage is that is normalized, so you can compare values across different securities to see which ones are the strongest or the weakest.
